Japanese Izakaya – 2nd class offering

Many cultures have their distinct pub-fare and Japan is no different. Chef Chris Irving spent a year working and living in Japan and learned to prepare traditional and fusion style Japanese Izakaya (pub food).

We will savour Japanese beverages including beer, wine and sake, while you test your hand at making gyoza, korokke (potato croquette), onigiri (seaweed rice balls), tuna tataki and okonomiyake (a Japanese savory pancake containing a variety of ingredients). Japanese food has a reputation in the West as being formal, expensive and difficult; but, it doesn’t have to be any of those things. It can be cheap, fun and simple. Izakaya Masters are very serious about their food, but the atmosphere is all about enjoying yourself.
