Japanese Izakaya (pub food)

Chef Chris Irving lived in Japan and will share stories of his culinary adventures while he demonstrates several types of Izakaya dishes which you will also enjoy making. We will savour Japanese beverages including beer, wine and sake, while you test your hand at making gyoza, korokke (potato croquette), onigiri (seaweed rice balls), tuna tataki and okonomiyake (a Japanese savory pancake containing a variety of ingredients). Japanese food has a reputation in the West as being formal, expensive and difficult; but it doesn’t have to be those things. It can be cheap, fun and simple. Izakaya Masters are very serious about their food, but the atmosphere is all about enjoying yourself.
